"Having seen the QM8 in person, I can say that it will look like shit from that closest seat. You are pretty far off center at that point. It will look okay from the seat next to it. Obviously, for the seats facing dead on, it will look pretty good. It all depends on how much the people sitting in those off-axis seats actually care or not. And all that being said, a 98" TV is much more fun from 12.5ft away than a TV that is 15" smaller. So if you mostly just care about the main 2-3 seats, I would go with that. That's just my opinion. The OLED will absolutely look better. That's no debating that. But how much you care when you're not going a side-by-side comparison is up to you."

"Right now, the best MiniLED would be the Sony Bravia 9. Sony has the best picture processing and motion handling. Not only that, but the Bravia 9's local dimming algorithm is something else. It's basically as close an LED has gotten to an OLED performance. For OLED, I have to give it to the Sony A95L, LG G5 and Panasonic Z95B. The Sony uses a QD-OLED panel, so the colors are super bright and vibrant. The LG and Panasonic use an RGB Tandem Display which while still WOLED, which makes it a lot brighter in both SDR and HDR. I went with the Sony A95L, and it legit is a beautiful display. However, next year Sony will be launching their new RGB MiniLED TV. There's no idea which models will get the new backlight system, or how much it will cost. It's supposed to be incredibly bright because the LEDs don't have to be filtered through a color filter, and a lot more colorful. So if you can hold off one more year, then I would wait for the RGB MiniLED."

"If I have all my information straight, LG makes the best panels. Sony uses LG panels, and they pair them with the best image processing pipeline. If you're watching in a room that will be sometimes bright and sometimes dark, get the Sony Bravia 9 (which is a QLED). TCL has far better contrast and while not Sony, superior motion handling and PQ EotF vs Hisense, at least in all 2025 models. And 98" is ~34% more screen to look at vs 83" not to mention much brighter for either lighting in room or HDR pop. If 7-8' distance in a primarily dark room, go for the LG, otherwise I'd be choosing the TCL"

"I second this. I was all about streaming but then we got an LG G3 OLED, Anthem MRX 1140 which enabled Dolby Atmos for us and since then upgraded from a Sony PS5 to a Panasonic DP-UB820 for blu-rays. We watched clips of Dune from Hulu, Apple Movies/Movies Anywhere, PS5 4K Blu-ray and DP-UB820 Blu-ray. - **Hulu** is immediately bad compared to all the others. Sound is missing the big bass in explosions and surround sound effects were minimal. The colors dull and in dark scenes (of which there are many!) a lot of details got totally lost. Had we nothing to compare it to we’d have been fine with it but… - **Apple Movies/Movies Anywhere** had dramatically better audio and image quality. No more crushed blacks, much better sound. You could actually get the movie theater experience! But if you pixel peep you’ll notice issues in the gradients where they get blocky and the super low bass, while impressive, didn’t really compare to what came next. - **Sony PS5** further improved on both but mostly bass effects. We had full Dolby Atmos (same as AppleTV, just less compression) and it stuck out more this time around. But we were also probably listening for it. - **Panasonic DP-UB820** we couldn’t really tell an improvement in Dolby Vision vs HDR10 on the PS5 but it was quieter and easier to navigate than the PS5. Plus if I have Dolby Vision I sure wanna try it out! It’s hard to a/b, much less a/b/c/d, test something like this without distinct setups but we now buy more 4K Blu-ray’s rather than digital purchases. I want to maximize the audio/video experience and limit the risk of content disappearing."

"Last year I went from an LG C1 OLED to an LG G3 OLED and didn't see a huge difference other than brightness. If you don't need the top of the line, you're probably safe to save some money by getting an older model, but I can't recommend LG's OLEDs enough. It's a game changer. I'll never go back"

"The B4 83” is closer to the C4 than it is to the rest of the B4 lineup. I would seriously consider it. You get a bigger panel plus a lot of the advantages from the C4. "For me, it's all about size + balance. I like watching sports and gaming. A good TV for me personally is the LG B4 OLED 83". I've had issues in the past with some TVs watching NHL games specifically. Ad an example the white ice surface and fast movements create problems with some TVs. I reckon this is a problem with the 60hz refresh rates and shitty motion handling. The OLED and QLED handle the black puck on the white background way better (higher contrast and deeper blacks). So it all depends on what you like to watch (and room size too, I suppose)."

"There aren’t really any good 70” TV’s, you’d have to go 65” if you can’t fit a 75”. The best 70 would I guess be the Q60D Samsung. But like a much better deal if you can stretch the budget a bit would be the 65” Sony Bravia 7, it’s on a member deal at Best Buy for $1199 with the plus or total membership so you could get the plus for $50 and get the Bravia 7 discounted from $1899 to $1199 paying $1250 before tax which is less than it was for Super Bowl and Black Friday. Way better deal than $1k for the 70Q60D."

"We just did the same thing; replaced an amazing and still perfectly functional 50” Pioneer Kuro KRP-500M from 2009 with a 77” LG G4 OLED. The size difference alone makes it worthwhile. It also uses significantly less energy. Nothing to feel guilty about! Enjoy your new TV!"

"I agree. I just purchased an LG G4 Oled for over $4K and have been arguing with LG ever since, but they could care less if I am happy or not. The issue is that the TV installation (normally $200) was free with the purchase at LG.com. Little did I know, even though it was free, I needed to order it. I found this out after I placed the order but before it was delivered. They refused to add it to the order, or credit me the value. I'll think twice before ordering direct from LG again."

"I have this issue with my TCL Q7 when I leave “game mode” enabled on accident for a movie/tv show. It does some funky stuff with streaming HDR. Once I get it turned off it doesn’t do that auto white balance stuff anymore."

"TCL QM7 or Hisense U7N are really the sweet spot TVs (has everything most people need at incredible prices) and right around your budget. They are on sale right now. The 65" is a little above your budget but really worth it if you can swing it vs the models below it. If 55" works in your space that's within budget but I wouldn't recommend getting a TV that is too small for your space/viewing distance just to save a few bucks unless you really have too."

"I would recommend the Hisense U7N or TCL QM7. They are both solid TVs for a good price and often considered best bang for buck models. I have a U7N in my bedroom and some higher end TVs and I think the U7N gets really close to the performance of the better TVs for much less money. The downside is these TVs only go down to a 55" so you need to look at something else for the gym room if 43" is the limit. "I think I would have dropped to a C4 before dropping to a 77. It's $200 cheaper for the extra real estate. unless you absolutely needed the extra brightness. You've got about 3,060 sq inches of viewing area on an 83 vs about 2630 on the 77, so around 15% less area. The C4 is still very bright if you're combatting a bright room with direct light. But my seating area is about 12-14 ft from our TV so the viewing area really mattered to me. I've been watching movies/gaming on my B4 (dark room) and it's almost too bright at times but fantastic as it's so large it's a very theater like experience which is what I wanted. But if what you have works for you space then it works!"

"I have both a Sony 4K Projector in a dedicated room and an LG C5 OLED is use mostly for gaming. There is no doubt that OLED is superior for n pretty much every way. Having said that, I watch movies exclusively on the projector because there is nothing like a large cinematic image for movies. The projector still produces an amazing image."

"Bought the LG G4 77 for movies and a lot of PC gaming, absolutely no regrets, the gaming settings along with 144hz are fantastic and I play in 4k HDR 1000 nits I've hard that for movies Sony may be a tiny bit better but the mixed usage swayed me over the competition. "The Samsung is the only QD OLED in the line up, with the rest being WOLED, which means it'll have the best colors and panel uniformity. However one thing to note with the 77" is that there's a widespread issue with the power supply board, high chance it'll go bad and you'll need to contact Samsung for a technician to replace it - not sure how the warranty works with open box. Then I'd say for the other two WOLEDs, Sony > LG. Got an LG G4 and exchanged it because of bad green tint, which I've heard is worse on the C4."

"If anyone knows the answer to your question, I'd like to know as well. My viewing experience peaked when my wife and I purchased the LG G4 83". It's the best OLED I ever used in my life, and I've been using OLEDs since 2020. My wallet will recover once 88" or 97" OLEDs become more affordable. I believe there was a post where a guy was able to get a 97" OLED for $6,000-$7,000. I'll try to find and link the post."

"I had been eyeing the Bravia 8, but saw it in store last night and I guess since it is an older model on display for so long, it didn't look nearly as good as the C5. The Bravia 8ii though looked absolutely stunning. That TV is definitely my pick for this year's best."
