Best praise vs top criticism for Smithey Ironware Co. No. 12 Cast Iron Skillet
“Nah. Though I don’t manufacture cast iron anything and have zero idea what their quality costs them to keep consistent. Regardless - I love my smithey cast iron. I didn’t give a shit about the price, I cooked on a friend’s and loved the build quality + finish. So about a third of my cast iron cookware is smithey- I can’t justify replacing the perfectly good stuff I already have that isn’t smithey, but everything new is smithey. The price is relatively low enough that it’s not a factor.”
“I can say the same about my Smithey cast iron - the milled surface sucks at holding onto seasoning. On the other hand, cheap Lodge carbon steel holds onto seasoning just as well as Lodge cast iron.”
