Best praise vs top criticism for LG 34GN850-B
“Was in a similar boat last year. You're absolutely right in your assessment - there was no progress in PC monitor tech in the past 7 years, only regress. OLED/QD-OLED not only have fringe/static blur but a ton of other issues, like "black crush", "white crush", "poor near black dithering with flicker", "VRR flicker" and so on. It is absolutely inferior tech compared to top gaming IPS screens LG was making in 2018-2019. In the end, I bought myself LG 34GN850-B, and I recommend you to do the same. It is essentially the same monitor as you had before, so while not an upgrade, it won't be a downgrade either.”
“Hey man, in the same predicament as you. Will say that version will not work with the 34gn850. Just installed it from the internet archive link for it, and it doesn't even detect the monitor. I think we're just screwed when it comes to checking the firmware of the monitor.”
