Samsung Odyssey G5

“VAs are far from going extinct. Samsung’s upper half of LCD Odysseys (G6, G7, G8, G9) are all VA panels. Acer, Innocn, KTC, and AOC all have VAs available. The best overall budget VA is undoubtedly the AOC X27G3XMN, as its mini led and is well tuned for HDR gaming, and has a 180 Hz refresh. It does have some dark level smearing but its fairly minor. That monitor is not just a great VA, its probably the best overall monitor in its price range. For motion clarity purists wanting VAs, I generally recommend any VAs with Samsung’s 2nd gen VA panels; they have largely overcome dark smearing at their max refresh. See RTings reviews of any of the aforementioned Odysseys, avoid the G5 or lower as they use 1st gen panels. I think the G65 from Samsung is a decent option, it’s 240 Hz. I loved it personally, but I would wait for it to go on sale as its way too expensive at full price.”
