Best praise vs top criticism for Gigabyte M27Q X
“Gigabyte M27QX is a fantastic monitor and is what I use. Highly rated by monitors unboxed as well at the 2K 1440p 240hz level”
“I honestly hate this monitor and wish I hadn't bought it. I don't understand the praise it gets. It doesn't have good performance at all, overshoot is often noticeable. If you don't play with v-sync on you often get noticeable tearing on games that run at higher framerate than 240, the picture quality is disgusting. And if you put g-sync on the lower the monitor's refresh rate goes on higher demanding games the worse the visual quality gets because you get more overshooting artifacts/ghosting. Also something like GTA V for example which runs best capped at 120fps, you'll get screen tearing even on that without v sync on, wtf?? Why does this monitor tear at 120fps when its rated for 240hz (and yes, I'm talking about gaming at 240hz while the game is capped at 120fps)?? And then when you turn v sync on (without G-sync... G-sync dropping this monitor down to 120hz will look DISGUSTING) to get rid of it you'll have a lot more input lag which defeats the purpose of the monitor. The picture quality really ruins the M27Q X for me. I'm currently not living in my home country, over there I had a Dell S2721DGF and goddamn that monitor is so much better than this one is. Yeah it's only 165hz but holy hell its picture and performance was a billion times better than this monitor apart from refresh rate. I never ever experienced ghosting/overshooting/screen tearing on that monitor, this pile of shit is a very different story. Now I know why it's so cheap. What I don't get however is why were the reviews that I saw so glowing. I researched it very well, looked up opinions online, and couldn't find anyone shitting on this thing so I figured it would be a solid buy. Boy was I wrong. If you got this monitor I recommend you return it while you still can. If you haven't, congrats. Avoid this shit like herpes.”
