Best praise vs top criticism for WinkBed
“Every mattress that is somewhat popular will have a ton of negative reviews. So if you start searching for a mattress you like and let a few negative reviews turn you off to it, the only mattress you are going to find are going to be the ones nobody has heard of. People will leave a negative review on a mattress simply because it didnt match their comfort preferences. It was too firm and hurt their hip, shoulders, their back. Maybe it was just right when they got it, but they didnt anticipate that their hybrid with 6" of polyurethane foam would have a significant amount of break in, so it became too soft for their preferences. Often when you see a review stating their mattress is sagging after just a few months or a year, they are just referring to its initial break in. They needed to pick a firmer mattress. People will use an improper foundation for their mattress without realizing it, then blame their mattress for being unsupportive. Rarely when someone leaves a review do they give enough information for what they are saying to be meaningful in any way. Someone who is a 250lb back sleeper could lay down on a mattress and say its way too soft, then a 120lb side sleeper would try out the same mattress and say it feels like a rock. But even when 2 people are the same height, weight, and have the same sleep position, their preferences can be completely different. Im also not saying that legitimate issues do not exist, but seeing more negative reviews is often a product of higher sales volume more so than anything. Search reviews on the top of the line mattresses with decent sales volume such a Tempur's Luxe line, Chattam and wells, Aireloom, ect and you will find all sorts of complaints. All that said I do think the best places to go mattress shopping will be either a local manufacturer or an organic mattress store to see if a latex mattress is something you might like. However the winkbed is a perfectly fine mattress and odds are if you go with that it will be fine for you as well.”
“Wait, are you saying that everything was fine for 5 month and now for 2 nights there is an issue? Has this pain been building up during this time, or did it suddenly develop over the past two nights. A. This is not reason to suggest buying from Costco or anywhere else may have been a better choice. Perhaps, coincidentally or anecdotally it might have, but if we are being honest, where you bought it, is somewhat irrelevant. Yeah, I know, Costco has a great return policy, I have memberships there and at Sams club. But you are not buying a mattress simply because of their return policy. Yes, it could come in handy, but that is not how you shop for a mattress, it is only one of many combinations of methods you should be using. If you did your research, and it appears that you did, perhaps this winkbed is the right bed for you, and you simply sleep poorly the past couple of days, or you may have turned the wrong way while sleeping or doing whatever it is you do during the day. Have you rotated the mattress, have you inspected the mattress? You should have rotated that mattress at the 3 month point, to insure even wear, and avoid any normal uneven wear. Have you checked your foundation, for any bowing of your slats, and are your slats less than 3" spaced. Have you placed the mattress on the floor and slept on it to see if that changes how you feel on it. If something is defective, such as a broken spring, then there should be a remedy for that. Depending on your height, weight and sleep position, and age, it could be something else. One thing to do is if you have an extra thick comforter in the house, fold it length wise and place it under your top sheet and use it as if it were a topper for a night or two and determine if the firmness of the winkbed has caught up with you as they tend to be on the firmer side. If so, buy a quality latex, latex alternative or feather topper. Where exactly in the back is the pain. Perhaps you changed your pillow. Changing a pillow for just one night, can cause back, neck and shoulder pain like nobodies business. I make some of my own pillows, using horsehair, latex noodles, wool and a combination of each. If I am just 1.5" off in the loft of the pillow, my body screams at me in the morning. While it is not likely that the same pillow used for 5 months and 1 day will likely be the cause, it is worth investigating. I know it is easy for people to blame this or that, complain about forcing them to do something etc., but many times there is a simple solution to an abrupt issue. Your idea of calling them and calmly talking with them about it is an excellent approach, provided the person is not just a CS rep and understands their mattress construction and how it pairs with ones body profile and preferences. Most larger companies will stick to their time parameters, as they can not treat one person differently than another, that would create chaos. But they can look at your case as an individual anomaly for whatever”
