Best praise vs top criticism for Horizon Fitness 7.8 AT Treadmill
“For a treadmill I recommend the horizon 7.4AT in my anecdotal experience. As far as losing weight, you can’t outrun a bad diet. It’s quite simple, eat less. Figure out your TDEE roughly and consume 500 fewer calories than that, or more. If you take in fewer calories consistently than you burn you will **lose** weight, if you take in more calories consistently than you burn you will **gain**weight.”
“I just got a 7.8 AT last week, and one of the lower rail retaining bolts was stripped out upon unboxing. I was able to resolve the issue myself eventually. However, the problem is that Horizon phone service either looped around to the main menu, or hung up on me, I never reached a support human. I also sent email through the Horizon contact form which has not been replied to since 4 days ago. The static shock issue is real (specifically this happens to the HR metal strips on the handles), and I even saw the screen blink black once from the shock. Also, I feel like the belt speed isn't consistent enough given the 4HP motor. As an engineer with a healthy budget, if I had it to do over again, I would aim higher I guess. But I cast my lot already, and will run this one into the ground first, because it was heavy af to move and set up. The speakers are an unexpectedly nice feature, as I was never able to find earbuds that don't start to fall out every 60 seconds. It shows pace as "9.3" (minutes) instead of "m:ss" format. It lacks showing total average pace. I will tape over the metal HR sensors on the handles to stop the shocks as I don't use the HR readout anyway. I used coupon SAVE6 to get 6% discount, it was the only code I got to work. The problem is anything better seems to have a fancy TV and like you, I was trying to avoid that.”
