"About xiaomi pad 7, with focus pen they cost 2-3k lesser than the ipad a16 and s10fe. You have to pay for note taking apps subscription, they are good now in hardware but software wise they are not at ios or oneui level. Also there is the issue with focus pen, xiaomi pad 6 was compatible with a particular pen and now that pen is not available in first hand market. "I went with the S10+ over the S10 Ultra. As much as the thin bezels are nice on the Ultra, I was not a fan of the camera notch. The S10+ doesn't have that. If you can, go into a shop and physically hold/experience the difference between the 14.6 inch and the 12.4 inch. It's what I did. I think if you are hoping to use the S10 tablet like a laptop replacement, then the 14.6 inch screen on the Ultra will probably benefit you more. "Cheap option. I just bought a Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 on AliExpress. Under £250. Massive screen, optional pen, really fast, GPS and well built. However I went for the China ROM so it can be upgraded. I activated the play store, changed the default language to English (American). Occasionally I get a screen, mainly around the Lenovo default apps, that's in Chinese and I have to use Google Lens to translate, but it works. "If it is just notes, video and pdfs, the lenovo m10plus 3rd gen and a precision pen 2. Very cheap option, used under 100€. Tablet is not the fastest, but has a great 2k display and sound, can play highdef media content, is great for taking notes, reading and marking pdfs, videomeetings onenote etc. The pen is also great for sketches, markings in pdfs etc. (thisnpen has integrated akku and uses usb c for charging and needs no aaaa battery). Camera is okay for notetaking or making work pictures of stuff. I use it for office, pdf and sketches and think its a great budget option.  Tip:if your tablet is 10,1 inches or below, the ms android apps (word, excel, powerpoint) are free(outlook and onenote and todo from MS are free in general). If you go bigger you need an office 365 subscription."

"I am a long time windows user, I am old ass as in using computers before windows even existed, and I got an iPad Air 11 inch with a Magic Keyboard to try out. It’s fantastic. I have used Surfaces and other windows based tablets. It can replace a laptop to a degree but it depends on what she is doing on the device. Since she uses an iPhone then an iPad may be a good choice. For what she is doing it’s probably the right decision. The Apple ecosystem is a strong pull for a lot of users and they have their own apps that can replace MS office pretty well for most users. Procreate on the iPad is a fantastic drawing program that has no competition on the surface. The surface is a laptop with a touchscreen really and is a terrible tablet first device. With that said I would look at what she has to do on the device and if it’s supported on the iPad, if it’s web based are you good."

"As someone that moved from an ipad air 5th gen to an s10 ultra I much prefer the s10. Obviously a large part of this is because I am deep in the ecosystem. I can take calls on my tablet without having to pull out my phone and the galaxy buds switching from my phone to tablet depending on what's playing audio is magically fast. If you have an iPhone and airpods you will feel the opposite. Also, the standby time on my ipad was pretty mediocre. From 100% it would die in my backpack over the weekend. It got so annoying that I made an automated shortcut to put my ipad into battery saving mode every evening, and even then I would get to class on monday and have 40%. My s10 on the other hand, has lost 13% in 3 days and 4 hours of standby. No need to put it into battery saving mode. The only thing I miss from my ipad is goodnotes and it's handwriting search."
