Best praise vs top criticism for Superior Wilderness Designs Long Haul 50L
βI love my Superior Wilderness Designs Long Haul 40. SWD also makes a 50L version of the pack. You probably won't pick up any weight savings vs a Hyperlite, but you will get improved functionality/comfort in load-lifters and more padded/wider shoulder straps and hip belt.β
βI wouldn't get the ks pack unless your bw is in the 7-10lbs range since it tops off at 26-27lbs tpw when it comes to comfort (I found it uncomfortable around 24-25lbs personally). sl40 will be too tight for a bv500. it's doable but it'll barrel the back out and suck. no experience with the arc haul but I always hear reviews about the stays breaking. I'd look at the swd long haul 50 or the virga cliffrose which is taking pre orders. for a an all-rounder pack I'd want more capacity and a robust suspension. with these packs, your getting torso adjustment to dial in your fit and with the long haul, you can always remove the stays and hipbelt and crank down the compression straps for lighter/smaller loadsβ
