Best praise vs top criticism for Snugpak Jungle Blanket
“I use a Big Agnes Rapide SL Insulated. Cost me 150 euros bit it's worth it. It claims, iirc, an R of 4.8. i have a -7 comfort/-15 low sleeping bag (Snugpak Softie Elite 3) and I have camped in -7 but it was bitterly bitterly cold.”
“If you can wait 2 weeks for shipping, eBay often has snugpak sleeping bags (left hand zip) for $80-140 USD from the UK with hollow fiber insulation that perform amazingly. Note that a mummy bag is much warmer than a box cut bag and all bags are rated for sleeping with insulated underwear, gloves, hat, and thermal socks. I'm not trying to overload you with pendantic info I just don't want you to freeze. Also the rating on the bag like "20°F" is often the ABSOLUTE lower bound but not really the comfort rating, it means you won't die but you'll be VERY uncomfortable and won't sleep. For 20°F I would reccomend a 0°F bag especially if you are not going to go through all the trouble to wear insulated gear head to toe and check "R" ratings for sleeping pads, etc.”
