Best praise vs top criticism for Kingrinder P2
“What a magnificent gallery, so many pics! :) The burr looks just fine. Look at how its machined, the edges are not supposed to be "perfectly straight" or "perfectly sharp". By using the grinder, the edges actually adapt to beans to make less fines in the grinding process later - some people even intentionally do "seasoning" of their grinder burrs, to accelerate that process. The P2 burr is fully capable to produce a good grind for pour over, and other manual brews. The stabilization would probably have been better with a Kingrinder K6 or K2, also the grind speed and overall comfort / UX would be better too, but the P2 is also fine. If there is something wrong with your Switch brews, the reason to fix is likely elsewhere - when using a quality beans, look for brew temps (can be lower with immersion - 85-87°C), water mineralization, and process / method overall, including how fine/coarse you grind.”
“Really don’t get a P2 instead of the K6. The difference is quite big and I’d rather spend the 30€ extra than feel like I put 70€ to waste. The cost of those grinders will pretty quickly disappear in the recurring cost of buying coffee. Skip on the Chemex, it’s just not great. There are a ton of 60 degree conical brewers, V60 is just the OG. You can also check out Cafec, Origami and many others. How big are your 6 cups? Are you planning to brew this amount of coffee at once? If so, you will need to get a huge brewer and lock yourself out of a lot of recipes. Most importantly, if you are not willing to pay for good coffee, no amount of gear will yield good cups.”
