Best praise vs top criticism for Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion
“Ooh for sure! Okay for the cream, maybe Nivea is kindaaa similar (Nivea is thicker and less “seep-in-ey”,) Ponds is not so far off either, but I really don’t find the face cream particularly special on its own. I’ll tell you my skips from La Mer (like I’ll use them but idk they don’t add a ton): - The Concentrate (just use the Revitalization Hydrating serum) - Moisturizing cream (too greasy, and I LIKE greasy lol, more on dupe/comparable below) - The Toner (adds nothing, generic toner or micellar water is on par) - Eye lotion (just not that diff from regular face cream, but I found Kiehls Avo eye cream was similar if not a touch thicker) - The Sunscreen (didn’t hate this, didn’t love it. Clarins UV plus Sunscreen is very similar) From La Mer I do like how the Moisturing Cream WITH the Revitalizing Hydrating serum feels after using both. I find the Hada Labo Gokujyun Clear Lotion (the clear one) does a similar job (and more) and sets the stage for any moisturizer to work way better imo. In terms of long term moisture I think vanicream provides a great experience as well esp for the price. That said the vanicream sometimes doesn’t seep in well either so I’d say Hado Labo milk (the creamier lotion one) is a good choice. Neither is sooo similar to the La Mer cream but…. These products together I like because together they provide a similar feel/long term moisture to using like 6 La Mer products. And they’re reasonably priced to boot. My skin is pretty stable now so I’ve even pared this down tho TBH. I also slug most nights. Lastly I’d add: the biggest difference makers for me, beyond any La Mer stuff, was adding azaelic acid, vit c (I use the ascorbic acid powder from the Ordinary) and Rx retinol. For transparency right now (even with $1000 plus of La mer in my drawer, this feel as good and BETTER) I use - Vanicream face wash - Azaelic Acid from The O - PM Rx Retinol / AM Vit C - La Mer Cream (I’m out of Hado Labo milk) - Vanicream - Aquaphor - Hado Labo Lotion on my back and chest to combat bacne/chestne lol Sometimes I use Metrocream for a week if my perioral dermatitis is flaring. Super long but I feel like framing that I don’t even love or use La Mer anymore might help with some de-influencing.”
