Best praise vs top criticism for Vaseline Original Petroleum Jelly
“It'll be ok. I've said it a bunch on here, but I was scared of Accutane too. After years of things that didn't work, I finally caved and did 2 6-month courses around 20-22. It was fucking miraculous. Yes my skin was parched and I bathed in Vaseline. I think I may have had some joint pain and headaches. But it resolved when I was done and my skin was CLEAR AS DAY. For years. Seriously. I was so upset with myself that I didn't try it earlier. My acne came back with perimenopause and I'm on a solid maintenance routine to keep it in check. But I bet it would have been a *lot* more severe if I didn't have the Accutane in my history.”
“Cosmetic chemist here… First response that makes sense. The ph of saponified oils is way too high and the idea of using an occlusive layer (to seal in all that dryness) is frightening. Cotton gloves are also logical. I had super dry hands when my youngest was born (I was a bit obsessive with handwashing bc she was premature and very small) so carried moisturizer with me everywhere and stayed far away from any alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Constant use of a balance of humectants, emollients and occlusives helped a great deal. Wishing OP luck. Sounds miserable.”
