Best praise vs top criticism for 1Zpresso K-Series
“The 1Zpresso K Ultra absolutely changed everything for the better. I had an electric grinder the Eureka Mignon Facile which is more expensive than the K ultra however it was very inconsistent. I definitely recommend something from 1Zpresso. I use my K Ultra for pour over and espresso. It excels at both, however you can probably find something cheaper from them that’s more for pour over. ”
“1ZPresso's burr set that they used in the Q2 Heptagonal and Q2 S, and now in the X-Pro, is widely considered to be a very faithful copy of the burrs in the Comandante. If you've used one of those then there is no reason to expect anything different from the Comandante unless you are mostly in it for the looks. And if you've used other grinders of theirs that are known for striking a middle ground between clarity and body, like the K series and anything in the J series that's not a JE model, it wouldn't be exactly the same but you shouldn't expect *major* differences. It's very easy to get lost in the sauce and start thinking you need every grinder that anyone ever said was good, because each one will give you a totally unique experience. But you have to understand, all the content creators whose takes people parrot on Reddit and elsewhere... coming up with compelling takes and content about coffee gear is essentially their job (or at least their extremely time-consuming side job), and many of them earn income from affiliate links as well, so they all have a tendency to exaggerate the differences between these products. As a normal person making a normal amount of coffee, I promise you, you do not need a stable of five conical burr hand grinders that you can juuuuuust barely tell apart. It's a waste of money and space. Know what matters way more than the grinder? The coffee. I would suggest you save the money and up your coffee budget instead... try a few roasters doing high-end small lot sourcing. That's going to enrich your experience more than a grinder that's like 3% different from what you already have.”
