Best praise vs top criticism for SVS Ultra Center
“Yes, a center channel speaker is worth it. I use an SVS Ultra Center (not EVO series), and it performs superbly and allows for a proper panning of the soundstage when sound needs to be differentiated from the left and right speakers' sound information in a track. Don't skimp on the center channel and if you go SVS, get the Ultra Evolution over the Prime series. As for towers, I use the Prime Pinnacles, and they integrate into my HT setup very well and sound fantastic in two-channel listening. If you do upgrade to the new Evolution series of towers, keep in mind, that the Evolution Pinnacle is suggested to be ran full range, as it can play quite low. This will of course tax your AVR's amp section quite a bit. Since you have a fairly capable sub, might go with the Evolution Titan as I believe it would integrate better into your current setup, and crossing it over at the nominal 80hz would work out for your AVR.”
“AI said that the worst pairing would be SVS ultra center with their pinnacle towers. It will expose the midrange dip in the towers. It actually said the SVS center would pair best with the Polk r600/r700.”
