“Open it up, clean the dust out, and re-paste the cpu. Not kidding. I have two of the things and I was bitching up a storm accusing them of bloated software etc. until someone gave me the advise. The air channels around the fan are tiny and clog up with dust over the years and the thermal paste is notoriously bad. You will need lots of alcohol and some gentle scraping to get it all off. 20 mins of cleaning and two drops of thermal paste left over from my last PC build and mine performed like brand new. I have moved over to ATV for my apps but its more of an issue with my control system and how it works with android. Honestly it is terrible with Apple TV too but that's a longer story.”
