Diwa regal's are kickass reels for the price, $70, I own like 6. If you spend like $100 on a rod you won't need to upgrade, that's the entry point of good quality rods, st croix bass x, triumph, Fenwick hmg, Lew's KVD ect. If you want a more budget rod the Fenwick hmx is a step down at $80, still a solid rod.

I really like Phenix. The M1 nanotubes rods are nice looking and very light and if you're looking for fast/extra fast I think they will be good for you. One of my favorite things about Phenix is the styling. Lots of other us based companies like St Croix seem to treat the looks of the rod as a total afterthought. But if I'm paying a lot I want performance and styling. Also if you're the type of person who doesn't like to keep your stuff forever Phenix keeps good resale value compared to other brands
