tldr; Quiet hospital-grade pump with strong suction. More comfortable than Medela. Excellent value for insurance coverage.

Best praise vs top criticism for Spectra S2 Plus Electric Breast Pump
“Highly recommend Spectra S1. I exclusively pumped with it for a year and it is still going strong for supplemental pumping for my second baby (6 months old who nurses). I never heard that S2 was stronger than S1. You can pump with the S1 plugged into the wall as well. You may or may not have supply issues, only time will tell. Set yourself up for success: take a breastfeeding class or have a prenatal appointment with an IBCLC. Schedule a weighted feed with the IBCLC for when baby is a week old. Early and frequent removal of milk really helps establish and support milk supply. Learn how to hand express colostrum so you can help with milk removal right after birth if needed. Some babies have a difficult time with effective transfer at the beginning. My firstborn was unexpectedly in the NICU, so I had to pump from the start. He had severe transfer issues, so pumping really established a good supply that took us through a year.”
“Wow! I got my pump in 2023 from them and had no issues. I also paid the extra $40 for the S2. I’m so sorry!! That’s so frustrating.”
