Best praise vs top criticism for Spectra S1 Plus Electric Breast Pump
“I’ll second the Spectra S1. That thing is a workhorse: its powerful, its well made, its easy to operate and I got great, consistent output every time. Its not the most portable but it was fine on the go, I had to exclusively pump for the first six weeks pp because of a bad latch and that pump kept me sane.”
“Also a FTM so def take this with a grain of salt, but I’m not planning to buy a hands free pump. I ordered a spectra s1 through insurance so I could have a “portable” pump, but I don’t have anywhere I think I need to go where I’d want to pump discretely. I’ve also heard that the hands free pumps don’t do as good of a job of emptying your breasts as well as the more traditional pumps do, so I’m going for efficiency and speed (I hope). You may find with your work schedule that you need to pump during the day to avoid engorgement (or pump before you leave for the day to get everything truly “empty”) but I don’t think you’ll be able to know that until you’re living it, if that makes sense. Maybe you’d be better off waiting and seeing if you need a hands free pump or think it would make your life easier.”
