“I have a Sony UBP-X800M2 and a Panasonic DP-UB820-K. The Sony has a brief freeze when a layer change happens on longer movies where the Panasonic does not. This is the main reason I would say it is worth it. The Panasonic has optical out and direct outs for 7.1 audio where the Sony has coax, but I use HDMI to a receiver so I don't need those. I bought the Panasonic for the smooth layer change.”
