Best praise vs top criticism for Samsung HW-Q800T
“I just went from a Q800t to a 900c w 9500s rears… andddddd suffice to say mediocre improvement if that… 800t was crisper and punchier but the 900c can do more and the rears are way better, bass difference I don’t notice at all, rears is better and the bar sounds wider and taller but the crispness of it all is lacklustre compared to my 800t i wish I hadn’t sold….”
“I have a Q800T, this is a 2020 soundbar. It has 'Atmos' (3.1.2) but those .2 channels dont do much. Recently received SWA-9200s and connected up (not officially supported but it works). Same thing, i'm not getting any sound from the rear speakers. Have PS5 in AV mode, 5.1, Dolby. TV in Passthrough mode, Dolby Atmos option enabled in Expert Settings However, if I use Atmos, I do get rear speaker engagement in Uncharted 4. I tested this via chapter select as soon as you land in Libertalia, Sam is speaking/walking around with you, I put him behind me and it tracks. Now, when I switch to any other game, Driveclub for example, whether I use Dolby, DTS, Dolby Atmos, it doesn't matter, no rear speaker engagement at all. Connection type im using is Q800T eARC to eARC on Samsung S95B. PS5 via HDMI 2.1 to Soundbar. Side note, the built in apps Netflix, Prime, Disney+ also dont seem to be sending any rear audio. Have tried on PS5 same thing. I was starting to think "are these rear speakers even working?" but if you switch the sound profile to anything but `Standard` you hear something, obviously virtualisation so not true surround channel audio. Also, I can watch movies on my Windows 10 PC by installing the Dolby Access app and setting up my audio as 5.1/Dolby Atmos for Home Theatre (both work) and movies sound glorious. So I dont know what's going on.”
