Best praise vs top criticism for PowerBlock Elite Dumbbells
“Just wanted to share a deal I was able to snatch, someone selling their old whole home gym set up in great condition (all indoors). I already had a bunch of stuff so gave someone else a great deal as well. I'm guessing the value of everything easily over $2500. For $750 CAD (~$550 USD) got (in order of decreasing value): 1. Pair of Urethrane U90 Powerblocks (90lbs each) with Stand 2. Powertech WB-PR Squat Rack with dip attachments and extending safety bars 3. 7ft Rogue barbell 4. Powertec bench with leg lift/curl attachment 5. 255lbs of rubber-coated Olympic weight plates with weight stand (and landmine attachment on the stand)| 6. Bodysolid squat/calf block 7. Fou heavy duty (3/4 inch) stall/rubber 4x6 gym mats 8. Miscellaneous - V-handle, dip belt, no-name curl bar I already have my own gym setup and so resold most things for $500 (not looking to make a profit, wanted to share the joy) and for $250 CAD ($180 USD) I kept the powerblocks (1), bench (4), bodysolid block (6) and misc (8). So excited :)”
“Without knowing your background, training history, and demographic data, I'd armchair expert posit that something isn't working and I doubt it's the design of the Powerblocks. I have those. I hate those, and the cage design in general, but progressively overloading should get you well past 25lbs without injury in the short term. Especially a shoulder press. My suggestion is to head to a physical therapist to explain your situation, let them see your movement patterns and ask you questions, and go from there. Unless you're 80, untrained and just chicken winging the presses, you shouldn't be having the issues you're having in my opinion.”
