tldr; Classic streetwear staple. White ones stay pristine for years. Comfortable and differential from Stan Smiths.

Best praise vs top criticism for Nike Air Force 1 '07
“Japan is all about sneakers dude. New balance is popular there, but so are other sneaker brands like onitsuka, converse, and Nike. And especially running shoes from any brand (the ones mentioned plus brooks, on cloud, asics, and stuff like that). You’ll also see dudes just wearing their oxfords and loafers and whatnot fairly often too, especially on the clock/commute. I don’t know if they use insoles, get particularly comfortable ones, or just accept the foot pain. Likely a combination of all three. You’ll get used to walking 5-10 miles a day pretty quickly, but once you settle in it’ll probably be less anyway, assuming you’re in Tokyo or another large city since you didn’t specify. Smaller areas will still be fairly car heavy, and won’t require any special footwear. Well fitted jeans are not super popular either. Japanese fashion leans more relaxed in their fits. Well-fitted makes me think they’re probably skinny or slim fit. Fine obviously since it’s a diverse culture, but just not as normal as in many other countries at the moment. So basically. But some relaxed fit jeans (Japan has some AMAZING denim companies) and a pair of your favorite comfy sneakers and you’ll be golden unless you’re specifically at work. I specifically liked my AF1s (leather for the rainy season) and my Vans Ultrarange while I was there.”
“I used to work for Nike and Adidas HQ many moons ago. I will say, id never buy a single sneaker/runner from there anymore. Same as Puma and all that jazz. Your best 'runner/marathon' shoes are without a doubt Sauconys and Hokas nowawadays. In terms of 'leather' sneakers, thats where itll be alot more expensive. Your practical options are the old AF1. Otherwise, if you have the money $$, Common Projects, Crown Northaptons etc.”
