Best praise vs top criticism for LG SL10YG
“Hi, I understand this is an old post, but would be grateful if can you please confirm - you have SL10YG and it works and connects perfectly fine (sends appropriate sound channel eg in 5.1 content) with SPJ4S receiver?”
“I feel like this is a thing I've heard about others with LG sound bars, and what I also have personally heard as well. I bought the LG SL10YG with matching rears to replace an old Samsung HW-J8500. I had similar issues where sound effects were loud, and great sounding but voices were incredibly soft and hard to make out. I ended up having to go into my Apple TV 4K and turn off Dolby Atmos. I ended up giving it to my parents and going traditional receiver and surround sound set up. I then later got my brother an LG S75QR sound bar to replace his now dead Samsung sound bar. I had hopes that this LG would sound better than his 2010 Samsung and that perhaps this newer one wouldn't have the issues I had with mine. After we set it up, I put on the series Hellbound to since that had a lot of action at the start and I wanted to get an understanding of what it can or can't do. The action was great, detailed, deep punches and the surround effects worked great. However, audible screams and voices where again soft and hard to make out. Again, had to turn off Dolby Atmos from the Apple TV to make it sound normal. Now I don't know if you can return the sound bar or not, or if you can find away to adjust the sound bar without having to turn off Dolby Atmos. However, I would swap for a Samsung or Sony. I don't know how people can use LG sound bars, but I refuse to work with them anymore and I won't be buying them anytime soon. They do make great OLEDs though.”
