Best praise vs top criticism for Eufy S1 Pro
“His cleaning tests are good but his obstacle avoidance test really needs work. He only tests on hard floors which is the easiest floor to test on, carpet is much harder for most robots when it comes to object avoidance. If he tested on carpet, the Roborock products would end up rank much lower as their object avoidance algorithm is horrible even on their top object avoidance performer, the QRevo Slim. Object avoidance really should be one of the most important things a vacuum robot can do as the usefulness of a robot is significantly reduced if you cannot trust it to run on a daily schedule and if you have to babysit it. He also doesn't really test how effective the extending side brushes work and in that realm roborock also is behind the competition as their algorithm for determining if the arm needs to extend or not only really work in perfect 90degree corners. Dreame on the other hand actually extends in any case that the robot thinks it cannot reach normally which results in much better edge and corner cleaning performance. Additionally, the brush design on the new Roborocks is slightly angled which prevents full contact when extended leaving a large dead spot (I think the QRevo Curv is the only one without this defect). To be fair, this isn't something most reviewers really test at the moment, but it does make me suspicious why Vacuum wars rates roborock's products at the top of his ratings every time. I feel that Jaime Andrews is a much more reliable source of information as he properly tests object avoidance and cleaning performance along with generally avoiding sounding like an advertisement. There are lots of vacuum wars videos which just sound like him reading off the manufacturers press release and then not properly verifying their claims. Regardless, Vacuumwars is just another source to consider but I wouldn't consider him the best reviewer. JustADad seems like a good source for more real-world use reviews but his videos are a bit long and not really easy to watch unlike Jaime Andrews and Vacuum wars. Jaimie Andrews is an overall good source, he's active on this subreddit and I believe he runs the unofficial Roborock subreddit but even with him running that subreddit, his reviews are very impartial. Rtings has been putting out more reviews now and they just released their review for the Eufy s1 pro, QRevo Curv and soon the Dreame L40.”
“People rave about the mopping ability of the Eufy S1. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some companies try to replicate that form factor/roller style. Also maybe a solution for edge cleaning. There’s some out there but I suspect a better solution for it to really deep clean corners and edges better. AI for obstacle avoidance is probably a safe bet too.”
