+3 pts“Dude, dont go for durability when you get these boots - get the absolute most comfortable thing. If you're at REI I highly recommend the [Danner Mountain 600](https://www.rei.com/product/239565/danner-mountain-600-leaf-gtx-hiking-boots-mens)s - they have a very soft EVA midsole and aren't made like a typical boot. Very cushioned and easy on the feet while also being supportive. Look for something like this because anything more structured or lacking a nice cushioned sole is going to be hell on your feet and joints. I'm a big dude. I did a pretty good portion of the AT pushing 280 - was well over 300 with pack weight. I used [Merrell Moab mids](https://www.rei.com/product/201987/merrell-moab-3-mid-hiking-boots-mens), and they also did great for me, but the Danners blow them out of the water as far as comfort. Don't mess around with socks, just go with the tried and true [Darn Tough hikers](https://www.rei.com/product/825037/darn-tough-hiker-micro-crew-cushion-socks-mens) \- light or midweight. Take a half dozen or so [BandAid blister pads](https://www.cvs.com/shop/band-aid-brand-hydro-seal-adhesive-bandages-for-heel-blisters-prodid-1830043) with you for just in cases. Get the ones specifically made for blisters. I swear you put them on and it's like you never even had a problem. Use hiking poles. It doesn't matter how flat it's going to be, it'll save your knees, trust me. It's nice to have something to just lean on every now and then, and poke shit with. I have the [Black Diamond Carbon](https://www.rei.com/product/147512/black-diamond-alpine-carbon-cork-trekking-poles-pair) and theyre pretty pricey, but REI will have deals on something reasonable, and don't forget to check out their returns/used section cause there's usually something decent banging around in there. I would pick up a few of those [Nuun electrolyte tablet things](https://www.rei.com/product/156097/nuun-sport-hydration-tablets-10-servings) to put in your water - I swear they help and you're gonna need to drink a ton whether you want to or not. Good luck dude, sounds like a good time. It's a bach party, so if you have a heavy drinking night the night before, be particularly mindful of your hydration the day after. Pick up a few pedialytes to pound first thing. Hangover hiking is the worst. I've seen many bach party plans go sideways because of last-night's party.”
