Best praise vs top criticism for Kenetrek Grizzly
“It’s fine. I lived in grizzly country and everyone I know hikes solo. Just try to make noise every so often by clapping or yelling out. The majority of bear encounters happen exactly like yours. Happy Hiking!”
“From what I recall, it was examples of things turning out badly. And this was for grizzly as they were using examples of bad outcomes in interactions from case studies. I think whether black or grizz, the mom just wants to neutralize the threat, or the perceived danger to go away. Anything with grizz is just to go down and protect vital areas as they have no desire to hurt you, just you’re not a threat anymore and will hopefully leave. Black bears will bluff charge, but when cubs are involved, they’d obviously get more aggressive. My courses were years ago. But I’ve worked around black bears a lot, sometimes never knowing they were close, but never a problem. But if you’re in the bush, and see one following you, or disappears then reappears. It’s a predatory bear, in that case, act aggressive as it is essentially hunting you.”
