Best praise vs top criticism for Boon Compact
โMan there's a lot of factors here. Glove quality and foam quality matters. At 80kg+ you should definitely be sparring with at least 16oz gloves. If you have separate sparring and bag gloves, then you could do 14oz for bags if you want. If your hands are hurting though, I would look at gloves that are specifically designed for bag work like Rival RB10s. Even if you have good gloves (and are using RB10s already) it could be the bag you're hitting is shit and compacted. There are several bags at my club that are as stiff as a brick wall. Even with RB10s I can still feel the stiffness when hitting body shots. Make sure you have good gloves with good padding that's still alive. Wrap your hands and focus the wraps on the knuckles. Make sure your hand is also going all the way into the glove. When you make a fist there shouldn't be any gap between your knuckles and the inside of the glove. Check the bags at your club and see if some are harder than others. Use the softer ones instead. Also bags tend to get more compact towards the bottom so if there are longer or lower bags, use those.โ
โAs a boxer, I've found that you can use this to your advantage when pivoting or ducking... you can naturally stay lower and more compact, making your head harder to hit. Maybe you'll even create your own unique stand, If you become so unique that your moves are unknown to 99.9% coachs/boxer, you will be the most annoying in gym lolโ
