Best praise vs top criticism for Acebeam Rider RX
“The AceBeam Rider RX 2.0 TI AA, featuring the Nichia 519A-V1 LED in Neutral White 5000K with High CRI90 (700 lumens), is a great choice. It has a really nice beam with a large hotspot and clean spill. Despite having a tail switch, it can still tail stand, and while it doesn’t have a lockout function, the button requires a significant amount of force to activate, reducing the chance of accidental activation.”
“I have a Rider RX, which I believe has the same UI. I have the same frustrations with it that you do. What I figured out was happening, in my case, was that the button was getting half-pressed all day long in my pocket as I sat down, crouched, kneeled, etc at work; like just the fabric of my pants bunching up near the button as I bent over was enough to press against the button and cause it to change modes. So despite having mode memory, I really could never have any expectation of what setting it would be at any time I clicked it on. Just maddening. That’s why, even though everyone out there recommends the Pokelit as such a great EDC light, I never bought one. I absolutely HATE the half-press click-through UI of these things.”
