When I first bought my Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 (brand new early 2025) and paired it with a Yamaha A-S301, I honestly felt a bit disappointed. I usually prefer a more “flat” / neutral presentation, and I had been used to my old studio monitors (an older M-Audio BX8a). At the beginning, the Diamond 12.1 sounded kind of underwhelming to me: the mids didn’t feel as forward or detailed as I expected, and the treble felt a bit dark. I didn’t hate it enough to sell it, though so I just kept them, mostly using them as background speakers while working. Fast forward about a year: I did the A/B comparison again, and this time the result completely surprised me. I’ve basically fallen in love with the Diamond 12.1. The midrange now sounds smooth and natural, vocals feel “soft” in a good way, and the highs are easy to listen to for long sessions without getting sharp or fatiguing. The overall balance feels much more “right” to my ears. So yeah at least in my case, burn-in (or maybe my ears/brain adjusting, or both) seems like it made a real difference. Either way, I’m really glad I didn’t give up on them too quickly.

Sonos Beam would fit, but if you have it recessed at all the side firing speakers are going to bounce off the insides and sound might feel like it's coming from where it shouldn't be. It's about 28" wide so it would only have 2 inches on each side to fire the sound sideway - not sure how good it would sound. But it would be better than the TV speakers alone. and I think it's currently on sale.

I started with the Beam 2 + Sub Mini, was very underwhelming & didn't feel near worth the price. I sold the Beam & bought 1 Era 100 to try with the mindset to eventually add the Arc. I was much more impressed by the Era 100 so I bought another one to make a pair. So while I saved & waited for an open box deal on the Arc, I just went with the Era 100's in stereo + the sub mini. Awesome setup although more problems came with 1 Era sometimes dropping, was relatively easy to fix tho so I wasn't too mad. Eventually I ended up grabbing the Arc. It did sound quite good, but it didn't blow me away like the price would suggest. & The connection issues REALLLLLLY started getting worse to the point the system was more of a headache than anything. Having to unplug everything & redo the system piece by piece, & sometimes multiple times cause either the surrounds wouldn't pick up, or the Sub couldn't be found. Absolute fucking headache! If my current self could go back & tell myself all the problems I'd have when I bought it, I would've NEVER touched it to begin with no matter how curious I got (I really only bought Sonos cause of so much hype around them). I'd buy Bose, Samsung, or my current Klipsch Flexus system again over Sonos all day long! Until I read next to nobody has issues, then MAYBE I'd consider Sonos again, but there's definitely better stuff out there for the price.
