“I appreciate this review because I did consider picking up a $700 990D or $999 990F before I bought my Sonos system. It's wild to think but the return policy on the Samsung's (those deals I mentioned were Samsung and Woot) sounded not so great. I was willing to spend more to try the Sonos, since I knew I could return it. I got the Ultra and Sub4 from Costco and 2 Era 300s from Best Buy. I have a challenging room because of the vaulted ceilings, etc. However, the Ultra, Sub4, and 300s actually sound good in there, where nothing else has. I'm glad I didn't gamble with the Samsung as I don't think it would have been as good. Now I've ordered a second Sub4, hoping that gives me another small boost in quality and of course, removes those dead zones I have with just one sub.”

“Keep in mind that much of the point in getting the 300s would be spatial audio wich again they won't support in your preferred format. Also the Samsung is very well regarded. Seems like an easy decision really.”

“Well, I went with the sonos. Arc+sub mini plus 2 era 100s for the rears.  Sounds nice but I just cant justify the price. This setup costs DOUBLE of the samsung q990d. If I could go back, I would buy the samsung instead. Hope that helps”

“The Sonos System will not outperform dedicated speakers for each of the channels. These type of systems try to replicate dedicated speakers by bouncing the sound off of the ceiling. Even under the most optimal conditions (a flat, non vaulted ceiling that bounces sound perfectly), a very basic dedicated speakers system will still outperform the Sonos. I would only recommend a sound bar like the Sonos if you are extremely tight on space or can't compromise on aesthetics. Since you already invested in a very good projector and large screen - the Sonos should not even be considered at this point.”
