tldr; Reddit generally recommends the Viofo A229 Duo as a great dash cam with good capture quality, though some suggest newer models like the A229 Plus for Starvis 2 sensor.

Best praise vs top criticism for Viofo A229 Duo
โRight! 1. Works well at night. And IIRC each cam has separate HDR toggles if you wanted one on and one off for some reason. 2. Good ol' non-linear editing. (A) The filenames include timestamps, which got me close. (B) Then I picked a moment that was clear in both views (me completing a lane change) and lined them up, 1 track per camera. (C) Then just drop all the adjoining clips in. For multi-view I set the working area to two 16:9 vids stacked vertically (so 8:9), then to place the vids and red circles used the position and scale tools. I used Adobe Premiere Pro but that's overkill; any decent NLE would do. re upgrading: If you're disappointed with your current cam, it may well be worth it. Note that I don't have the latest though, on purpose. VIOFO had just released the A329 when I got my A229 Pro, but I went with the A229 because the telephoto attachment is advertised as *only* compatible with that model. Maybe they'll update firmware so the telephoto works with the A329, or it lowkey already does, but the quality I'm getting suits me fine.โ
โIt's not just you. I got the FITCAMX as my first Dashcam, but didn't like the capture. I returned it and got the Viofo A229 and the capture is much better.โ
