Best praise vs top criticism for Tramontina Pro Chef's Knife 8-Inch
“I just dug out my Tramontina Pro. Ok, yea not that impressed. It cuts ok, but I have lot knives I much prefer. They just feel better. Far as cheap knives I have this one steel handle Cuisinart that think gave $8 and still sell like $10. I had resharpened it. Feels nicer in the hand and cuts better than the Tramontina. Then I brought out the antique Dexter 48910. Wow, that thing makes the others feel like toys. Also brought out a Zwilling 4star that I got cheap used and resharpened. Ditto for it. Feels much nicer, and it was cheap used, maybe $25. Nearly like came from factory, not sharpened to a toothpick with some electric gadget. So yea if you need a cheap knife now, get the Tramontina Pro. If you can afford couple more bucks get the Curisinart with the steel handle. If you really want to splurge look for a used Zwilling 4star or 5star used for $20 to $30. Seriously get the Zwilling...I had forgotten how good that knife feels in the hand. Though my favorite two knives are the Dexter 48910 and the highly modified Winco chinese cleaver.”
