“P790s have been used all the way to the PGA tour. It's a myth that cavity irons have 'hotspots', what they have is a sweetspot just like any other iron that will go further than when you miss the middle of the club. The thing is that amateurs so rarely hit the middle of the face, and the distances on these irons are so good on mishits that amateurs don't realize they are mishitting. Then the one time they actually hit the middle of the face they are confused about why the ball went so far lol.”
“I think once you get better it’s all about preference. I’m a mid single digit right now and game Jpx tour irons - when I have to rent and get the GI Sim irons or something like that, I can barely hit them. I hate how big they are, they don’t go through the turf etc etc. I do know a 3 handicap who uses p790s and gets a ton of height and stopping power even with their lofts so it’s really all preference”
