+3 pts“Price wise, the Scott wins hands down. You're getting a lighter alloy frame with a carbon fork, and also full hydraulic brakes. The scott would easily be at least 3lbs lighter than the brodie with a full steel frame and fork. However, if you're planning on carrying a few things on the bike and want to run a rack of some sort and maybe even do some bikepacking with it in the future, the brodie would be a better choice.”

+2 pts“These are all very similar tbh. Scott is the best value but I'm *really really* not liking those fully integrated cables, and I think it's insane that Scott sells the Speedster like this. Going to make the brakes and shifting work less well, cause higher repair bills and more frequent repairs because the cables have to take a higher bend. If you're even somewhat comfortable buying a used bike, I'd strongly encourage you to do so, even if it means paying a bike shop like 30 bucks tondo a basic check on a candidate. This is IMO the goldilocks price point for buying a nice rim brake bike right now, you could get a 11 speed carbon bike with Ultegra, possibly carbon wheels for that money.”
