I used to run HD650s straight from an Apple dongle and didn’t even realize what I was missing at the time. I can only imagine how good your setup sounds. A lot of people on this sub will say “if it’s loud enough, you don’t need anything else,” and I honestly find that hilarious. A good DAC and amp absolutely transform the sound. Getting into the physics behind amplification is fascinating too. The way an amp controls the drivers electrically is pretty amazing. The improvement in transients surprised me the most, even on easy-to-drive headphones like the ER2XR.”
