Best praise vs top criticism for Ribble Endurance SL Disc
“If you haven't really ever ridden drop bars before then I think an endurance frame with more comfortable geometry would be a safer bet. If you really get into the sport you can consider more aggressive geometry. Keep in mind, for the average person, there usually isn't that much of a speed benefit on the "race" bike contrary to what marketing will tell you. The average person can hold an "aggressive" or "aerodynamic" position on the endurance bike for longer and more comfortably than on a "proper" race bike. Being in a pretty good position for longer is better than being in the "optimal" position and not being able to hold it for long. Given it sounds like you are new to the sport, buying Specialized from a brick and mortar store would be the safest and least headache while you learn about your bike - even if it may seem like the least good deal. Ditto Trek and Giant or whatever bike stores you have at your country. Online stores are generally better value but the post purchase service is obviously not as good/ convenient as a physical store. To answer your question about the Triathlon, the fastest bike with the more aggressive geometry (probably the Sava) would generally be the best for triathlon racing. It also depends on the length of the triathlon. I personally would want more comfortable geometry if I am doing 50km or more. Depending on how serious you want to be, there are triathlon specific bikes too.”
“750 for the Orbea M30 is about what I expect for a 11 speed rim brake carbon bike with basic wheels and is a decade+ old. It is not that uncommon a price here. Even at a decade old it is the pick of the bikes here. The Diverge Sport is worth a look if the Orbea M30 falls through. Though it being in the endurance category makes it a suboptimal option for a Tri bike. Avoid the Orbea Onix, it is 15+ years old and should be half the price it is listed for. I would avoid the Trek Domane AL 2 because it clearly is not a disk bike and they have a high price for it. You mention looking online, I don't think I would pay anyone to ship these bikes to me. Often this costs hundreds of dollars. Expect another $100-200 for assembly at a shop.”
