Best praise vs top criticism for Parkhurst Delaware
“Hey there. Thank you EffectiveHippo9 for the post and I am stoked/grateful you like the boots. @Intelligent-War210 – thanks for the feedback. I have had maybe 3-4 people mention this to me over the past two years. Typically, with pattern and design changes I need a decent amount of additional feedback instances in order to re-do a design or pattern because bigger procedures then follow at the factory. But in this case, it turned out to be a simple fix which I implemented a month ago. With the newer Richmond styles coming out the rest of this year and moving forward, the toecap has been made smaller and retracted towards the toebox by about ¼-1/3 of an inch. The Viberg comparison looks stark, however their vamp/instep ending is also quite a bit more forward than mine as shown by the end of their quarters vs. the Delaware. Additionally, the instep base of their last is a decent amount more forward than mine and when it comes time to make a pattern around this, it typically pushes every part of the pattern (namely quarter endings and toecaps) forward towards the toebox. This is what I have seen in my experience working with patterns, tracings and building lasts then bringing them all together into one boot. But yea my toecap at the moment is still larger. General – Leather creasing can be seen most prominently on natural Dublin leather. It’s one of those articles which can show it perhaps more especially when the oils and waxes separate in this lighter color paired with the leather creasing. The upside obviously, as most of us know, is the age and patina it develops. Leather should and will crease. But it is not 100% possible in every instance to identify how a certain leather is going to crease in production and pre-wear. You can’t always tell by just cutting the hides or sorting them. I am familiar with this in that I have experience sorting, plotting and cutting. It just simply cannot be spotted all the time in production even if you are working with some of the most experienced people cutting leather and with good quality leather. In order to identify this, the boot most often needs be flexed and worn a bit for a good few pivoting steps so you can see how the leather moves. Hoping to hit a few key points here, thanks for your time guys.”
