“After carefully looking through all of the various Indonesian makers, five finally made it to my list of favorites: Onderhoud, Midas, Briselblack, Txture, and Junkard. Junkard caught my eye with its nice symmetrical 360-degree Norwegian hand-welted construction, and I decided to put in an order in with them. I must in many ways be a very difficult customer, but after much back-and-forth between a very understanding Alex at the other end of WhatsApp, I finally arrived at my desired specifications: Junkard Valor Boot MLD Last 8-Inch Shaft Height Black Maryam Horsebutt TPR Two-Piece Backstay Veg-Tanned Leather Heel Stiffener and Toe Puff Double Midsoles Dr. Sole Cork Half-Soles in Army Green (secured with brass tacks) Light-Brown Contrast Stitching (a la Red Wing 9060's) Dark Brown Edge Color Antique Brass Eyelets Fully Lined No Brogues All I can say is that they turned out absolutely SPECTACULARLY. Every last detail is perfect, and there is hardly a stitch out of place. The boots weigh in at a healthy though not cumbersome weight of 910 grams, about the same amount as a pair of Red Wings. To me they exude a sort of refined, almost 19th century, military elegance, although I have a hard time putting my finger on exactly why this is the case. Can't wait to break them in!”
