“Mineral Dust is very bad for you to breath and yes it will leave white dust all over your furniture. It's also bad for the baby of course and it also makes makes it harder to clean your humidifier because it leaves those mineral deposits in the bottom of the humidifier. I use distilled in my Levoit OasisMist 450S and 600S and they have been every easy to keep clean. For a mist Humidifier you absolutely have to use distilled. $1.27 a gallon at Walmart for the Great Value brand. If you want to use hard water you will need a humidifier with a wick filter. The only problem with those is the filters are expensive and they don't last very long. Your third option is to buy a machine that makes Reverse Osmosis Water. There is no secret humidifier that's going to do everything and cheaply. It cost money no matter which route you go. You will either be buying water or buying which filters.  ”
