tldr; Budget 14-tool entry at ~$40. Decent pliers, basic steel. Good first multitool. Several better options now at price point.

Best praise vs top criticism for Leatherman Rev
“Leatherman Rev could be a good fit. I don't own a Rev but I have an old discontinued model (Leap) which uses the same pliers. Those are good pliers. Very strong, and good bypass-style wire cutters. I do own a cousin to the Rev (Bolster) which uses a different style of pliers that's also found in the Sidekick and Wingman. I strongly dislike these pliers. Yes they are spring-loaded unlike the Rev, but the tip of the pliers feels fragile and the wire cutters are worthless. Anvil-style cutters, and particularly bad ones at that. Same package opener as on the Wingman. Never tried this package opener but I've heard overwhelmingly good feedback. The Rev is unusual in that is has a 2-hand opening blade that locks open. which can be accessed from the outside. Most of Leatherman's other outside-access blades are designed to be one-handed.”
“Every Leatherman tool has its loyal fans, the Wingman family of tools is no exception. That being said, i think the rev (and the wingman, sidekick, bolster are all pretty crappy. If I were you, I'd look at the bond, curl and rebar. All three are more expensive, but all three are much better tools. I'd argue they are a much better value.”
