I can count the number of great shots I pulled on one hand. What (IMHO) u/jrsaxplayer has yet to figure out, is that what he thinks is working great today will be something he would pour down the drain five years from now. He is just starting out. And even though most of us acknowledge the struggle we had to pull a good shot (“good shot,” not “god shot”) in the beginning, most of us today would also quickly say that the quality of our espresso is much better now than it was when we first got started. The OP is lucky: he enjoys what he’s making. And that’s honestly great! But — if we didn’t know what equipment he was using, but he just handed us a straight espresso — would we like it? Probably not...”
