HP Pavilion Gaming 15

Back in 2011 I didn't even understand the difference between a gaming laptop and non-gaming laptop and I was playing Skyrim on an HP Pavilion for hours on end with no issues even if it got hot. That laptop still works today, albeit with hinge problems (usual for HP). A laptop I received as a gift in 2013 was an Asus X450 with an i5 and something from nvidia's 700M series. Today it would probably be the equivalent of a Vivobook. I played Skyrim, Borderlands, Dark Souls, whatever on that thing. It often reached 90C and it's still alive today as well. Can't upgrade to Win11, but my sister needs a Windows laptop because her work software needs windows and she has a Mac. Battery's dead so I removed it, but runs fine off the charger. My current laptop is an Asus TUF A15 2023. I bought for mix of personal and work use. It's pretty much turned on from 7am to 10pm every day for 25 days a month since Around Aug2023 when I bought it. It's connected to a docking station at work and at home though. If I didn't need to take it around the stations for maybe 2 or 3x a month I'd probably have bought an SFF instead to take between my desktop setups. There's literally no issues I've faced. I work on it, game on it, gets turned on when I wake up and gets turned off when I sleep. Warranty's been over since August (2yr). HOWEVER The main difference between us is I don't think I'd consider myself pushing the laptop to the limit. Even if I game on it and it's turned on 7am-10pm almost every day, Most of the time it's on a web browser or a database software. It's not exactly pushing the laptop like in gaming. I'd probably be gaming on it just 3-4hours a day while at work, then when at home, around 5-7hrs. What I probably would ask you though is your work setup. Do you need the portability? Because I'd expect a game dev to be wanting to use a desktop anyway since the monitors on laptops are small and you'd probably want a bigger canvas.”
