HP Omen Transcend 14

“I was looking for a thin and light laptop that is good enough to play some newly released titles. Then I found Omen Transcend 14 Core Ultra 7 155H + RTX 4060.I use it primarily to load LLM into the VRAM for RnD stuff at work or personal project. I played some The Finals matches on it, on competitive settings and 1200p, it can sustain 100+ fps on average as long as we're not in Kyoto (heaviest map in that game) I also played some portion of Expedition 33 on Medium settings 1600p, getting above 60-90 fps on average. So yes, we can't really play at the laptop's native resolution (1880p) realistically speaking. That's just for something like graphics design and video editing use case. My main gripe is the fact that sometimes the GPU is keep getting its Power Draw to under 60W when it should be at it's full capability at 65W. The workaround is to use OmenMon (Open source 3rd party software) to force it to draw 65W. The other gripe is the CPU that is most likely should have used PTM7950 instead of whatever type of thermal paste they currently use. I use PTM7950-SP on my Desktop CPU and it's really great temperature-wise. The CPU is running pretty hot, although that is most likely by design because of the proprietary cooling tech from Intel that HP implemented. The cooling is great because this laptop doesn't feel hot despite that high temperature. Therefore could be better if we switch to PTM7950 instead. I'm really not sure what would I've gotten instead if I'm really being specific with thinness and weight. Zephyrus G14 is a great option have I don't already have a Gaming PC. I'd much rather invest money into my PC upgrades than on a gaming laptop that powerful which also encounter the issue of manufacturer cutting cost on its thermal paste quality. Zephyrus G14 (2024) RTX 4060 is also like 30% more expensive than Omen Transcend 14 (2024) RTX 4060 last I checked. The Zephyrus got 4 speakees and 2 subwoofers. ASUS out here really trying to make us not wear headphones it seems.”
