Best praise vs top criticism for Giorgio Armani Code
“There’s the well known classics like Dior Homme Intense (more elegant), Valentino Uomo Intense (sweeter), Prada Lhomme Intense (mix of the two and my personal favorite) and then you have others like Armani Code Parfum (perfect fresh tonka-iris frag). Other more niche stuff like Amouage Black Iris and Woods Symphony, Gris Charnel, or ATH Homme. Also Givenchy Gentleman line is great like the EDP, EDT Intense (has fresh spice like basil and cypress) Reserve Prive (whiskey is added to the mix). There’s lots of options out there but the first three are a great starting point.”
“People are pissed because it's just subpar and faceless compared to DHP '14. I believe kurkdjian got a brief like 'make us a jpg scent but make it dior'. So Kurky did what he does best: a simple, mass-appealing, well-assembled scent. The issue is, it's a Dior frag with a Dior price tag, that smells like JPG, Prada and others, and is not any better than the competition even from the same parent company Puig. It just does not differentiate itself in any way. I see no incentive to buy it when I already have Armani Code. The '14 version is definitely in the top-3 of my collection. It's definitely a unique, classy, niche style scent, and yet at the same time it's really wearable. I feel like it should've been in Dior's boutique line, right beside Bois d'Argent, probably even was a discarded draft of it. I really hope there is going to be something like Dior Homme Extrait in the style of Satin Mood or Grand Soir from FK soon.”
