Best praise vs top criticism for Giant Revolt 2
“> Giant Revolt 3 a good choice for touring/bikepacking? No. The new ones are a lightweight race frame with only marginal accommodations for gear. The older ones, which this appears to be, don't even have the fork mounts or the top tube bag mount.”
“I randomly came across this post and feel like I should comment. I have a Giant Revolt gravel bike that comes with the same Giant proprietary seatpost clamp as those Defy's. That clamp is over-engineered and I will NEVER recommend any Giant bicycle anymore as long as they come with that thing. It doesn't hold the seatpost in place unless if you overtorque it. It consists of 3 metal parts that rub against each other and the frame. In my bike, the seatpost is D-shaped instead of round, so it comes with a aluminium wedge to make it fit in the frame. Any piece of dirt or moisture that gets in to it, leads to loud creaking every pedal stroke. Every two or three rides, I need to completely disassemble the thing, clean it and re-lubricate it. Please do some googling into this issue, it is common and there isn't really a solution except for frequent disassembly, cleaning and lubrication. That being said, I used to own a 2018 Trek Emonda ALR5 and really enjoyed it. It felt very light for an aluminium bike.”
