Best praise vs top criticism for Frogg Toggs UL2 Rain Suit
“ | *I feel like it doesn't even matter every jacket has some issue* You have achieved Zen enlightenment that most backpackers take years to achieve. I am not shitting you. In a magical universe I'd love Frogg Toggs with pit zips that lasted for regular use. I also wish I was tall, handsome, and independently middle-class but instead I'm short-ish, look like an reject from a 1990s mob movie crossed with a middle-aged outdoors person, and watching my salary have less and less purchasing power with each passing year. Cheers.”
“Get an umbrella hat (not kidding) or lash a compact umbrella to your shoulder strap. Supplement with a rain kilt of it is really pouring. Frogg Toggs rain gear is what I recommend, but I only put it on during breaks or in camp, any rain gear worn while hiking will quickly lead to overheating. I will only cancel a trip of the forecast is calling for severe weather with tornadoes, high winds, basically anything that could bring a tree down on top of me. I have two reasons for this: One, I have to make trip plans far in advance, and I can't rearrange the dates (work/family/etc). Second, if I avoid certain weather conditions, that means I will have zero experience with the issues that weather brings. The chance of permanently avoiding that kind of weather is about zero, as weather conditions will always change during a trip.”
