Best praise vs top criticism for Dell G15 5520
“Upgrading the RAM from 8GB made a huge difference on my G15 5520 (i5-12500H + 3050 4GB). I went from having lots of stutters to almost none and was even able to bump up the graphics settings by a decent amount on some games. The laptop also felt noticebly more responsive during basic tasks like browsing the web and opening the start menu.”
“I bought the 2022 dell g15 5155 grey with spots. I believe they are built the same as the one I bought design looks the same. Absolutely HORRIBLE build quality after 3 years the screens hinges came off the screens frame & pry open the screen frame when opening unless holding pressure on the hinge. I’m gonna start from the beginning, everything was fine when I bought it, felt like mid range plastic not complete shit but obviously not quality. Eventually screws started falling out of the hinge, literally falling out, I lost a lot of them. They fell out through the base of the hinge connection. When I noticed them start to fall out I noticed a hole in the plastic of the base of the hinge connection. After I think 3-6 screws fell out there was a noticeable gap in the right & left sides of the base of the hinge connection. Within a few more years I wouldn’t doubt that that the screen will literally just fucking fall off. I’m not the nicest to my equipment, I carry my laptop is a standard laptop back & sometimes put the bag down straight off my shoulders onto the table, now I don’t consider this aggressive at all but maybe in a perfect world it would be okay if you treat it like a newborn baby but any real use will reveal the horrible build quality of this laptop. Now I’ve only had issues with the screen. The rest is fine besides one of the usb-a ports not working anymore. I don’t know when this happened. Also the screws falling out has been happening over for over a year this is NOT recent. Although, the left hinge disconnecting from the frame like a mentioned before was recent around a month or 2 ago. NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS. When I refer to the base of the hinge I mean the plastic bottom connection that protrudes out into the frame to connect the screen frame onto the laptop frame. When I refer to the left hinge I mean the hinge in the left corner of the screen, not the protruding part, I’m referring the bottom left bezel.”
