Curls Blueberry Bliss Curl Control Paste

“-- ROUTINE -- Shampoo: Ouai Detox Shampoo used this time to clarify (normal shampoo is Olaplex No. 4). I usually clarify once a month-ish. Conditioner: Olaplex No. 5. I use LOTS of conditioner, and finger detangle only (no brush or comb) with conditioner in. I do a half-hearted squish to condish and rinse out completely-ish. Products: 1.) Eden Nourishing Curl Jam (random bottle I found and wanted to try in place of my usual Bounce.Me Curl Balm because I've been thinking it was too heavy). Just a little bit, barely a fingertip's worth, emulsified. 2.) The Doux Mousse Def texture foam. I use a healthy amount of this - probably a few palm fulls. 3.) Blueberry Bliss Curl Control Jelly. I use more gel than any of the other products. I use several healthy squeezes of gel because I think my hair does best with a good cast. 4.) Deva Curl Ultra Defining Gel. I found an old, probably expired bottle in my cabinet from before the Deva Curl scandal really got big. I had stopped using their line because I was noticing differences myself, but I had been wanting a little more hold/cast than the Blueberry Bliss was giving me, so I figured I'd experiment and finish up with a couple of healthy squeezes of the Deva Curl gel on top of the first one. To note, the gel is much more liquidy than it was when it was new - it is probably a few years old at this point. All products are emulsified in my palms first, and then I apply them in first by raking them in, then doing the pray hands technique. My hair is flipped over upside down throughout the product application. I apply more water to my hair regularly throughout the product application, because my hair is high porosity and starts drying the moment water stops hitting it. After products are in, I scrunch my hair for basically eternity. I mean, I scrunch as long as my hair stays wet enough to do so, which is probably just a few minutes.”
