tldr; A floating-head erg that mimics on-water rowing by moving the footrest instead of the seat. At 76 inches long, it's more compact than standard ergs. Requires more technique but uses same PM5 monitor.

Best praise vs top criticism for Concept2 Dynamic RowErg
“Floating head ergos, like the RP3 and C2 Dynamic are meant to mimic on water rowing. The RP3 is a world class machine, many top international athletes train on these. I have a Dynamic and, despite its drawbacks, I do prefer it to a standard C2. There are some advantages, such as less load on your back apparently, but they do tend to be bigger and more expensive (vastly, in the case of the RP3). Your use case would determine which one is best for you.”
“Yeah it sucks really and the instructions are complicated as well. Not simple maintenance at all. I made a separate post this subreddit on how to do it. It contains the document they gave me as well. If you know anyone who struggles with the dynamic erg, I put all the info there.”
